Lemons are infinitely more popular than limes, yet limes are less sour. Lemon flavored or scented products are everywhere, but hardly any lime ones. Everyone has seen a lemonade stand once in their life, but no one has ever seen a limeade stand. Limes are the Luigi of the fruit world.
Why do the "red" flavors like strawberry and cherry of artificially flavored things like candy always seem to be the most popular? Like are those just more popular flavors or do they translate to confections better or some mental thing about the color red?
TIL the word "moxie", synonymous with "energy" and "spunk" originates from a brand of soft drink. As with many sodas, it was first marketed as an over the counter medicine called "Moxie Nerve Food". Moxie was created in 1876, is flavored with gentian root extract and is still sold in the eastern US.
