This reminds of a YTV host (I think her name was Sugar) who has her hands taped to her sides because she has a similar issue.
It's funny because that's the one thing I found distracting and now, somehow, it's fine. Well played... well played indeed.
Really enjoying Patriot Act so far! When I saw Homecoming King on Netflix, I was immediately thought The Daily Show needed to start looking for a new senior corespondent, 'cause it was clear Hasan Minhaj would have his own show in no time! Great format, Hasan Minhaj is a super engaging performer - looking forward to the upcoming stories!
I thought I remembered reading in an interview that all (or some?) of the topics for season one are already selected, but the episodes so far are super temporally specific. Can I ask, how far in advance of release do y'all tape?
Edit: Embarrassingly said "Prom King" instead of "Homecoming King" - thanks to Ratonhnhaketon_K_ for pointing it out!
I noticed a lot of US residents recently asking about "people talking with their hands" under videos of Big Brother UK. Is gesticulation just not an American thing? I assume those people would never make it past the airport if they ever visited Italy, the great epicentre of gesticulation.
Besides, it's not like he's the only one doing it on TV shows of this format; Samantha Bee and John Oliver do it as well, for example. Personally, I can't get enough of it. Why not let your body show off some of that passion when discussing subjects you care deeply about?
And on a totally shallow note, Hasan has the perfect fingers for it. 👀
I love this guy. I stopped watching Daily Show when Stewart left so his Netflix show is my first time really seeing him. One thing I would say, stop labeling the show new throughout the week (this is a Netflix issue, not Hasan's). Maybe weekly shows are 'new' first 2 days, idk.
I'm liking some of the topics, and he's genuinely entertaining. But does no one else find his knowledge on the topics lacking? I fear there aren't enough coherent political writers in this genre of TV to supply the demand anymore and it's showing.
Don't most late night comedians move their hands around? Minhaj is probably more animated than most but Oliver is often making motions with his hands along with Colbert and Noah. I think its the fact that Minhaj is walking around it becomes more prominent.
I like this show and I’m not even a full democrat
The show is great but he uses the hand motions of a self help guru.
Last Night At The WHCD, That Asshole Hasan Minhaj Decided To Insult Our VP And Second Lady For Being Faithful To Each Other (A Muslim Attacking Christians - What Else Is New?). He Made A Bad Decision.
