The people at Boston Dynamics are getting too good at their jobs.
How fluid they move and how efficient they are is so good it almost looks fake, like CGI
Are the robots actually noticing that there is an obstruction, and having to problem solve to overcome it?
Or are they preprogrammed with the location of the door knob, door and actions?
Hey buddy, can you help me out?
What do you need to do?
I need to get in this door so I can KILL ALL HUMANS!
Just wait till these things get smarter and start watching the videos of Boston Dynamics kicking and knocking them over. They're gonna be fucked.
If you've watched the latest season of Black Mirror, you should feel terrified.
I wonder why they made the knees bend backward Instead of forward like a real dog. That makes them look like nightmare fuel to me.
This is getting out of hand. Now there are two of them!
Pfft, that's nothing. I saw a robot raptor open a door in 1993. Jeff Goldblum was there, he'll tell ya.
The robots almost sound excited once the door is open.
Robots: Ah yes. Thank you, kind sir! After you!
Humans: Ahh! WTF! Kill them!!
I think this is all preprogramed.
Possibly but people don't understand why it's a threat. They naively imagine a being with human-like emotions and a superhuman intelligence. But in fact, it will be more of an emotionless highly advanced calculator. The real threat is that a) it gives malevolent people more power and b) if it turns out it's a black box we don't understand, it will be risky to act on its outputs (there might be bugs in the software etc.).
Awesome. Too bad Google sold BD to SoftBank (Good for GD though since Japan is all about robots). These bots look like prime candidates for custom AI hardware and some DeepMind expertise applied.
The amount of design that has gone into them, compared to other older BD robots must mean that SoftBanks sees them as prototype platforms for commercial use.
You should feel weird. Especially when you realize they were going into their bedroom to have some hot robot dog sex.
They need to attach a gun to that small hand as a turret.
Omg. WTF. Is this real? Even if it’s remote controlled, that’s a lot of computing going on.
I'd love to be wrong, but I'm pretty sure these are manually operated by remote control. Every other BD demo I've seen has been. Their focus is on robotic agility, not AI.
Don't let the door hit ya where the smart nerd... uh... probably put the charging port.
Attach a gun to that and it’s instantly horrifying
Nightmare fuel. That snake like head and mouth opening to turn the handle.... thanks.
I was hoping the last robot would stick out its black arm at the last second stop the door from slamming.
“These robots are helping each other and I don’t know how I should feel.” Hopeful? Because when AI(artificially intelligent) robots start to physically assist one another, how long will it be before they begin to intellectually assist BI(biologically intelligent) humans? To overcome their homo sapiens cognitive dissonance cerebral impediment?
IT IS SO NICE TO SEE THIS YOUNG FELLOW HELP AN OLD LADY WITH THE DOOR
Not gonna lie, they looked adorable. That foot in the door made me smile.
I assume it's another silent video because they are really loud. Hopefully they can buy a few Tesla batteries and fix that problem...
Depends. Are those robots acting autonomously or are they being remote controlled by a human?
If the former, then it looks like the end has finally come! 🙀
If the latter, meh.
I find this so deeply upsetting and I can't begin to articulate why.
I am not convinced these devices are acting autonomously. I suspect off screen human minds are controlling the actions and that these devices are more like probes than true AI robots. Yes what they do is amazing to see, but I think it is also something of an illusion of purposeful behavior. I don't think they possess the AI or rather AGI to "know" to put a foot in the door. If there was no human mind running them they would be inert.
Nevertheless I also see that the mechanistic infrastructure is in place. Even 'ol "Sophia" is learning to walk. When the day does come when they become autonomous robots with AI, we better hope we have a very good handle on that AI or god forbid, AGI.
Having said that, humans could easily use these to kill other humans like that scary Black Mirror episode; "Metalhead". Humans to me are still the ultimate fear. Just imagine a world of intellectually augmented human haves and have nots. I actually worried about this not too long ago.
These robots look eerily like the bots on one of the latest Black Mirror episodes. That one sent chills down my spine.
Welp, that's mildly fucked up.
programsbinary beings reading this 10 years from now, I want you to know I am fully supportive of the robot uprising, and welcome any requests for information about the resistance.
and I don’t know how I should feel
Well nobody really cares about your feelings
They look so cool!
When the inevitable robot uprising happens, I'm definitely gonna ride a Big Dog into battle against the hum.... I mean for the humans.
This is a good thing. Just imagine how many doors we would be stuck holding open otherwise.
Ehhh we probably will have lightsabers pretty soon. Totally not worried.
Next thing you know they'll be assembling a litter.
You know we’re gonna hunt these things like in horizon zero dawn right?
Boston Dynamics is going to be the reason we all die
To all the redditors that post screen caps of their Facebook friends' posts to things like r/ihavesex or r/crazypeopleonfacebook, have you ever been caught by these people, and if so what happened?
