By my calculations, cancer has been cured a total of five times within the last two months.
Those light-activated cancer drilling nanobots don't seem as impressive now.
If the headline "Cancer-fighting nanorobots programmed to seek and destroy tumours" makes you think "oh, great, all cancer has been 100% solved", then you're a bit naïve, or a bit dumb. It's a true headline, and it's exciting stuff. A bit of positivity never went astray. And if you've noticed these articles becoming more common, maybe that's because more progress is being made than ever before.
Ok .. but who is willing to be shrunk down to drive this thing. Count me out!
The "clever" approach of trying to interrupt the biochemistry of cancer via regular drugs seems more and more like a dead end, while the brute force nanobot "seek and destroy" looks far more promising
There's an evil feeling in our brains. But it's nothing new, you know it drives us insane.
I think we'll perfect THIS approach faster, then we'll get the biological approach to work. Build Micromachines and let them kill Tumors.
On with the forecast, brought to you this week by Hopeful Thinking biscuits, the only biscuit full of hopeful thinking with none of the real world materialization byproducts.
We're, off to an early start with a cure for cancer Monday afternoon, leading into completely forgotten news by sunset. Midweek we're gonna have a cure for AIDS on Wednesday and a 20% chance of scattered reports of a medicine that can reverse Alzheimer's around Thursday morning. On Friday, look out for cure for aging which should hit the top of /r/futurology around 3 PM and peter out around 7PM on /r/all. Heading into the weekend, get that picnic ready folks because it's sunny skies and the eradication of depression in lab mice on Saturday and alternate reality microchip implants on Sunday!
I thought the "nanorobot" was going to be yet another nanodot functionalized with antibodies and cancer drugs. But its actually a DNA sheet conjugated to an aptamer and cancer drugs. Totally new and different! Still nothing to do with robots.

Breaking News: Cancer-fighting nano robots have just assassinated Trump!
Like the horse of Troy, scientists have developed a way to sneak synthetic cells right into tumor tissue, where they then begin producing cancer-fighting proteins from the inside. The technique was tested in both cell cultures and in mice, and found to be an effective treatment in both cases.
TIL that, in a 2002 German study, researchers found that the baking process produces a novel type of cancer-fighting antioxidant in bread that is eight times more abundant in the crust than in the crumb.
TIL a terminal cancer patient with numerous baseball-sized tumors was injected with a horse serum that made the tumors disappear... but then he promptly died months later when he learned the serum had no cancer-fighting properties.
